Parkside Winery Estate
Wood, Windy Roads and Wine
There’s something other wordly about driving into an estate. The long, tree lined road into a property, horses grazing on one side, tall grasses dancing at the hip in the wind, gravel crunching under tyre. Parkside Winery Estate is a beautiful place to visit.
The original 1860’s Clydesdale barn is now the cellar door, complete with some fantastic woodwork touches that have survived the (many, many) years, which, if that kind of thing tickles your fancy, is quite fun. A personal favourite here was original wood tiles, running down the centre of the floor. If these walls could talk…?
We were taken through the list of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Sparkling and Pinot Noir, by the delightful Jenny, who was very happy to share the history of the site, along with the changes since she and her husband Darryl moved in around 10 years ago. It was great to hear her local recommendations were in line with our plans for the rest of the weekend!
If you’re not rushed for time (which let’s be honest, you never should be when visiting wineries) this site is a great little spot to pop in for a visit. I felt like I’d travelling back in time to a slightly slower time (in all the good ways) and left here a little more relaxed.
