Curly Flat

Legacy, family sagas and Chewbacca.

This vineyard has special touch-points for our family - as I’m sure many of yours. Bottles of their delicious Pinot and Chardonnay being shared with us by family [always appreciative], my father-in-law’s [one of many] 60th celebrations kicked off here.

However this was the first time we’d visited on our own (we’re proper adults now y’all).

Jokes aside, I did feel like we were entering hallowed grounds, and was quite certain we wouldn’t be allowed in without adult supervision.

A common insecurity with the wine world [for me] is that the ‘proper’ clientele wont have us in the same room. Fooling everyone, we settled in for a good 90 mins or so to share in the good stuff, and my goodness it was good.

Chewie [Front of house manager/general boss] sat with us and shared his knowledge of each glass the whole way through, while Brandon so knowledgeably, patiently and joyfully shared his take [often agreeing with Chewie - it’s clear they’ve worked together for a while]. We chatted through the wines, influences, the vineyard, the history and what local pubs to try in our time in the region.

One of my favourite things about visiting cellar doors, is meeting with the owners/managers/invested team members, and feel their passion and joy for the work as soon as you step on the property, I’m repeating almost everyone else by saying this; Curly Flat has it in spades, and if you’re in the area, you simply have to go.

How many bottles did we buy: 4 [it took some serious self control]
